Chairman’s Address

Dear Performers, Supporters and Friends,

After the strangest year anyone of us can remember, when we had to cancel the 2020 festival, I am delighted to once again welcome you to the 2021 Cheltenham Festival of Performing Arts. Whatever your interest as a performer, a supporter or a volunteer, we will be enthusiastically opening the Pump Room to celebrate the best of Dance, Music and Drama across a diverse and talented range of young people and adults.

The Festival will have a slightly different feel to it, notwithstanding we are in a different venue, but also because we will be extremely Covid aware. Between the Pump Room staff and ourselves, we will be monitoring the event in an effort to keep everyone safe. The team has worked tirelessly to run a secure Festival this year and my sincere thanks go to them for taking on the challenges that inevitably have stood in our way. Nothing has daunted them and I hope you will feel the positivity they have engendered in the lineup. The Festival will be a little reduced but I am hopeful that all participants will enjoy a fantastic and vibrant program of all the disciplines.

We are as ever grateful to our supporters and sponsors, (we would always like more!) and if you think you could help with encouraging others to support us that would be wonderful. Perhaps you might consider becoming a Friend of the Festival with all its benefits. We rely so much on independent support and, of course, we are hugely indebted to Cheltenham Borough Council for its annual grant, which it carried over from last year.

Do enjoy this Festival and know we will be looking to continue this wonderful and long-lived Festival into the future with the help of you and your friends.

Thank you

Garth Barnes
